Warriors Lacrosse: Senior Night and Home Game Weekend
he Cody Warriors Lacrosse Team is gearing up for one of the most exciting weekends of the season as they host their first home games of the year and celebrate Senior Night this Saturday. With 21 dedicated players on the roster, the Warriors have been a force to reckon with. Only holding a record of 4 wins and 8 losses so far this season, they set to change the narrative this weekend as they play three home games at Mentock Park in Cody, Wy. As they face off against tough competition like Bozeman, Great Falls, and Cheyenne, the energy is high, and the stakes are even higher.
For the Warriors, this weekend is a special opportunity to showcase their grit, skill, and passion for the game. The team’s star players, including Carter Zink, Kaden Roberts, and Josh Sauers, have been leading the charge all season. Whether it’s Jackson Stenson scoring ball with an average of 1.5 goals a game, or Josh Sauers contributing with his consistent 1 goal a game and fierce face off skills, these athletes bring intensity and dedication to the field that fuels the whole team.

Cody Warriors Lacrosse: Home Game and Senior Night
A Team Fueled by Grit
In a sport as fast-paced and intense as lacrosse, there’s one quality that sets the Cody Warriors apart from their competition: grit. As Josh Sauers says, “We’re just a bunch of dogs, really.” That gritty mentality has been a driving force for the team this year, helping them push through tough moments and pull off wins when it matters most. The Warriors aren’t just here to play—they’re here to dominate, showing everyone that they’ve got what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Behind the players, there’s a committed coaching staff that’s been working hard to develop these athletes into well-rounded lacrosse players. Josh is quick to acknowledge the role of their coaching team and volunteer coaches, saying, “We have a variety of coaches who are committed to the growth of the program and helping us out on and off the field.” With a mix of experienced coaches, passionate volunteers, and support from the parents, peers and community, the Warriors are growing stronger both individually and as a team, and it’s evident in their performance on the field.
The Warriors’ X-Factors: Ball Security and Offense
Looking ahead to their big weekend matches, the Cody Warriors know that success will come down to a few key factors. According to Josh, “Ball security and getting the ball to our offensive threats” are two areas where the Warriors will focus. As the team faces off against Bozeman on Friday at 6:00 PM, followed by Great Falls at 11:00 AM and Cheyenne at 5:00 PM on Saturday, controlling the ball and executing their offense will be critical for securing victories.
As for individual performances, Carter Zink has proven to be the team’s best passer, averaging 1.5 assists per game. He’s a key playmaker, ensuring the team’s offensive threats, including Josh, Carter, Landon, and Jackson, are in position to make a difference. The Warriors’ balanced attack is something to watch for this weekend, and they’re ready to prove they can compete with the best of them.
With State Championships just around the corner on May 16th and 17th in Bozeman at the MSU Lacrosse Field, this weekend’s games will be the perfect opportunity for the Warriors to fine-tune their skills and show Cody what lacrosse is all about. “I’m excited to show people what lacrosse is really about,” Josh shares, “and show that it’s a lot more fun and exciting than they may think!”

Community Support and Weekend Festivities
This weekend isn’t just about the action on the field; it’s also about Cody’s community coming together to support the Warriors.
